A New Year.... by the way HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

Wow, what can I say about the year 2010..well for starters I never thought I'd live to see 2010. There was just so much going on in my head and around me. In 2009, I was suffering with depression and honestly I didn't think I had any further to go, but thanks to Jesus I made it through. 2010 was a struggle at some points. I don't come from the richest family...not the poorest either LOL, and there were times when I wasn't able to buy some of the things I would have liked and I also wasn't able to go hang with my peers due to a lack of funds. I was also very ill for some time and found out about an underlying illness I had. I was on medication that affected me..sigh this year really wasn't easy. However, I had some pretty awesome times. When my dad came to visit my country in July I had a blast with his side of the family. In August, God afforded me the privilege to visit the Cayman Islands. It was beautiful, and I got to see another portion of God's handy work. I also made new associates at school when I returned, which I see as a major accomplishment because they really helped me during the dreaded exam period at school. The Lord was always in the midst to protect me and to strengthen me so I really cannot complain. I had shed many tears this year  but again I must say Jesus has been my help. So now I'm left to wonder what 2011 is going to be like. If it Its one thing I know, its that my life won't be the same because it will be a period that requires many changes, spiritually and physically, because the fact that we have now arrived in another year, it also means that the Lord's coming is even closer.

So what does the word "New" mean and I must share what it means to me tying it in the with the subject matter. According to dictionary.com, the term new speaks to a kind now existing or appearing for the first time; fresh and unused. If we say we bought an new pair of shoes, then it means that the shoes are coming straight from the manufacturer, shipped and placed on the shelves and nobody has ever worn it, however we don't know the exact details about the shoes. We see where it is made from man made material, but we don't know what exactly is this man made material. Similarly, we have a new year, we know its characteristics- 365 days and the seasons and so on, but we really cannot tell what each day is going to bring do we? However its left up to us to at least try to shape how we are going to go through the year. So we own the pair of shoes, its now left up to us to keep it as new as possible, to dust it should it get dusty and to put it back in a safe place after wear. We really should remove all the "dust balls" from our lives as we enter the new year. People often say it makes no sense to make new year resolutions, but I say, make them (you don't have to call it a ny resolution either, call it a simple goal) anyways and if you truly are determined you will see to it that they are all achieved. There's a song by Myron Butler that is entitled "I can" (check it out)...I like to listen to it every now and again, when I need a little push to do something a bit on the challenging side. So what I'm really trying to say is that we should put away the dirt and grime of 2010....clean house and throw the trash out once and for all!! Its the only way we can make space for the great things that Jesus wants to instill in us. God wants to increase more and more favor in our lives, but there is that huge dust ball (lying, fornication, lust, idolatry, envy, etc) blocking that spot that He wants. So let us strive to give to the Lord our all for 2011. Let us spend more time reading the Bible, praying and fasting and giving to the Lord our time, talent and tithes. If you haven't given your heart to Jesus Christ, the man who gave His life for you, I invite you to do so. There is nothing to lose, and besides, there is too much sorrow and sin in this world for you to be hanging on to it. Sin will lead you nowhere but to the pit of hell, to eternal damnation. As Daniel 12:2 says, "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." Sin is not comely and the guilt that comes with it is often unbearable, so choose the right path, the path to Heaven before the closure of time. Get baptized in Jesus' name and He will fill you with His Holy Spirit and teach you how to live righteously. Only this will lead you to the Heavenly land where sin and sorrow cannot abound, because no sin can enter the Kingdom of God.

Have a good year my friends, make sure that you take the back seat and allow Jesus to pilot your life for 2011. We cannot undo the negativities of 2010, but for 2011 we can trust the Lord for divine deliverance. All the best everyone!

Saciame SeƱor/ Satisfy my soul - Joann Rosario & Donnie Mcclurkin ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER!

THIS SONG IS A TEAR JERKER.
There I was on YouTube looking at random gospel music videos and stumbled upon this beautiful song! It feels good listening to this song, as it evokes the motion of worship; imagine then how it must feel in Heaven when we are there giving the Lord true worship, where nobody has to tell us to worship, where worship is freely flowing from our hearts ("Mighty God, Hallelujah!") that is definitely the epitome of beauty. Clad in purest white, bowing ourselves to King Jesus on the throne. Man, I have to live right because I have to be there, I have to be in that  number. No sin, no sorrow, no sadness, just you and Jesus basking in peace and happiness forever more.

Remember, keep Heaven in view.

My God is so BIG, so STRONG and so MIGHTY, there's nothing that He can't do

1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: (Isaiah 40, King James Version)

KAREN CLARK SHEARD - GOOD...Beautiful Lyrics

Take some time and listen to this song. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful, nice and simple; these lyrics include ways we should live as well as they tell of God's wonderful love. I hope you'll enjoy it. It isn't a song for you to jig to, its a calm song that truly expresses gratitude to God for his love. It makes a beautiful song to sing at a nice Sunday night service, in the shower, on the street...pretty much anywhere because the Lord is always faithful and good to us. Jesus is beautiful for every situation...can I get an Amen!! Hey, don't be afraid to sing God's praises aloud, you never know who you can minister to; somebody planning to commit suicide can be in the midst listening to you sing, somebody going through financial difficulties can hear yo singing "My father is a millionaire, I'm stepping on gold" and see that joy on your face and even come over to ask you about this father (LOL)..you never know. God is to be praised 24/7 and everywhere we go. Let's share daddy Jesus with our sisters, our brothers and our friends guys.

I don't like all, but most of Karen's songs because I think she gets into depths  of what she's trying to say, she gives her songs her all, lyrically, rhythmically and she never slips of key. The songs that she sings that I don't like are often auto tuned and seem to have a more "worldly" content- not what I'm looking for as a Christian.

She is also the artist that sings the song that I always said I have to sing at my wedding (LOL- psssh as if anybody likes me likes me :D...:[ ) anyways yea!! As I was saying, her song "Be Sure" makes the perfect wedding song for a pure Christian bride...its just so beautiful...I sing it in the shower almost every other day...or two....good stuff!!

Take care guys!!

Let God be praised and exalted. Put away the dancehall and hip hop....forget about yourself, forget the bling, the riches, the fame, forget about what people will think about you if you are a devoted Christian, forget the hype crowd. Keep your focus on Jesus and keep Heaven in view.

Much Love.

Psalm 147- Isn't Jesus Christ profound!! Man!! Wow!!

1Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
2The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
3He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
5Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
6The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
7Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
8Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
9He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
10He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
11The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
12Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
13For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.
14He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
15He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
16He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
17He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
18He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
20He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalm 147, King James Version)

KAREN CLARK SHEARD - [i MADE A CHOiCE].

Karen Clark Sheard-What He Did

Reasons why I don't celebrate Christmas...I don't endorse Idolatry

No one knows what day Jesus Christ was born on. From the biblical description, most historians believe that his birth probably occurred in September, approximately six months after Passover. One thing they agree on is that it is very unlikely that Jesus was born in December, since the bible records shepherds tending their sheep in the fields on that night. This is quite unlikely to have happened during a cold Judean winter. So why do we celebrate Christ’s birthday as Christmas, on December the 25th?

The answer lies in the pagan origins of Christmas. In ancient Babylon, the feast of the Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25. Raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were traditions of this feast.

In Rome, the Winter Solstice was celebrated many years before the birth of Christ. The Romans called their winter holiday Saturnalia, honoring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. In January, they observed the Kalends of January, which represented the triumph of life over death. This whole season was called Dies Natalis Invicti Solis, the Birthday of the Unconquered Sun. The festival season was marked by much merrymaking. It is in ancient Rome that the tradition of the Mummers was born. The Mummers were groups of costumed singers and dancers who traveled from house to house entertaining their neighbors. From this, the Christmas tradition of caroling was born.

In northern Europe, many other traditions that we now consider part of Christian worship were begun long before the participants had ever heard of Christ. The pagans of northern Europe celebrated the their own winter solstice, known as Yule. Yule was symbolic of the pagan Sun God, Mithras, being born, and was observed on the shortest day of the year. As the Sun God grew and matured, the days became longer and warmer. It was customary to light a candle to encourage Mithras, and the sun, to reappear next year.

Huge Yule logs were burned in honor of the sun. The word Yule itself means “wheel,” the wheel being a pagan symbol for the sun. Mistletoe was considered a sacred plant, and the custom of kissing under the mistletoe began as a fertility ritual. Hollyberries were thought to be a food of the gods.

The tree is the one symbol that unites almost all the northern European winter solstices. Live evergreen trees were often brought into homes during the harsh winters as a reminder to inhabitants that soon their crops would grow again. Evergreen boughs were sometimes carried as totems of good luck and were often present at weddings, representing fertility. The Druids used the tree as a religious symbol, holding their sacred ceremonies while surrounding and worshipping huge trees.

In 350, Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25. There is little doubt that he was trying to make it as painless as possible for pagan Romans (who remained a majority at that time) to convert to Christianity. The new religion went down a bit easier, knowing that their feasts would not be taken away from them.
Christmas (Christ-Mass) as we know it today, most historians agree, began in Germany, though Catholics and Lutherans still disagree about which church celebrated it first. The earliest record of an evergreen being decorated in a Christian celebration was in 1521 in the Alsace region of Germany. A prominent Lutheran minister of the day cried blasphemy: “Better that they should look to the true tree of life, Christ.”

As a history major at University I have come realize that history is a very important discipline because without it we are not able to correct those things in our past that have become traditional in order to move forward in a positive light.

Its ridiculous how everyone remembers poor people and homeless people for two weeks and then promptly forgets about them again. Really??!!!

Some people are going to put it as "Its just a day we chose to celebrate Jesus' birth", well see now this is how I put it, celebrate the fact that He took on the form of man everyday of the year by worshiping Him everyday of your life!!

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir - Only a look

Listen to this song! Ain't it a blessing!! Only a look at Jesus! Can turn you away from sin...

ANTI FB

I won't lie I am an avid user of the popular social network Facebook, but Lord knows it is disadvantageous to my life. It has caused me to get fatter than I should be... I'm serious!! All I find myself doing is sitting around the pc, turning it on, opening Google Chrome and on to FB to play IT Girl and Sorority life. I'll do this for hours upon hours...just sitting and getting fat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All this fb time could be used to be exercising, or tidying my room, anything that makes me active but noooo "YOU NEED TO LEVEL UP ON IT GIRL BECAUSE VANESSA HAS PASSED YOU OUT!" *Deep Breath* Yes, as I was saying, my addiction to Facebook has turned me into a fat blob :( because I just sit and interact with my keyboard and monitor with my FINGERS, heck the only things that are moving are my eyeballs and fingers, some activity!!! It more than likely the cause of the lower back pain I feel sometimes. Guess what though!!! NO MORE FB!! I'm taking my life back, I've found out that you mean me no good!!

Facebook is also preventing me from getting to that high place I want to get in my spiritual life. I love Jesus and I want to do His perfect will. So when I'm on Facebook playing Sorority Life, how is this beneficial to fulfilling my goal?!! IT AIN'T! I could be using that time to read my Bible to obtain strength and to see all the guidelines by which I should live. As I wake up in the morning, I'm tempted to see if I have any new notifications, I'm lying in bed and wondering what's going on on Facebook. Really?!! This makes me sound really ridiculous, but it is my reality...the reality that I have decided to rectify. I can't continue this way!! I really  can't!! Twitter is there but I really don't use it so I'll be closing that in a matter of minutes...good riddance I say!!

So I've decided to go all the way...to close my Facebook account PERMANENTLY and I see great things happening for me in the future. I will lose weight, I will gain spiritual strength and I will excel in my studies. Because of this bold step (believe it or not) God will do something new and great in my life. Thanks in advance Lord. Deactivating Facebook will be my New Years gift from Jesus, He has something in store! I can't wait.

Choose Ye This Day Whom Ye Will Serve

GEN. 3:15 - And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
-and-
GAL. 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Friends, God is trying to give birth THROUGH you in the spirit realm. His seed is the Word of God, his off-spring is LIFE and the fruit of the Spirit. But we caution you today that the Devil also has designs on you. He seeks to plant his seed in the "womb" of your mind, and give birth to all manner of heresies and destruction. Contrary to God's Word, he seeks to impregnate you with hatred, malice, strife, self-will and all the manner of flesh works that will lead you down the path to Hell.

Amazingly, both these spiritual forces need your flesh to root in and be nurtured; to grow in and be birthed forth. However, only ONE of these spiritual forces will spring OUT of your flesh and rise up in newness of life, setting your spirit free of the flesh! That One is Jesus Christ. The works of the flesh are clearly known, and seen throughout and they are such that we ourselves must receive the devil's seed, settle it in our hearts and work out the birth of these things within ourselves. However, God's seed (the Word), settles in our hearts, and all we have to do is FOLLOW AFTER it, keeping OURSELVES in subjection to it, watching as IT comes forth fruit that we did not plant!

Don't let Satan have you! Don't let his seed settle in your belly or mind. Don't give birth to the deeds of the flesh. Repent! Change your ways, hold to God, pray for revelation and truth, and trust him to kill the wicked works of the flesh as you press your way into his Kingdom. Our prayer today for you is that you hold your thoughts to the kinds of seed germinating in your life, and WEED OUT the Devil, living and rising in newness of God's favor, power and fruit!
