Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psa 139:23-24
Friends, David wrote a very profound thing in this scripture. In here I see a man crying out to his creator "Search me, O God, and make love (unify yourself, become intimate with) my heart: try me (test me, push me) and become intimate with my mind." The word "know" often indicated an intimate act in marriage, consummating a couple into the one flesh of a married couple.
David was wanting God to expose his very soul, make him naked if you will, and learn everything about him. We as Christians are to follow after the Spirit and not after the flesh. The knowledge God wants us to have and wants to have of us is found in our hearts and minds. Yet, in this world so many couples struggle because they "shack up", having sexual relationships before the heart and mind are known. But GOD wants the body to follow AFTER the heart and mind. He wants to get to know you, and to develop the life-long relationship that can only happen after each member of the union studies and learns of the other.
Today we urge you to consider your relationship with God. Have you truly become ONE with him? Are you just flirting with God, holding back the most intimate part of yourself from him, while hoping he comes through for you? Go deep, as David has, and ask God to KNOW you. Ask him to make love (to unify and become ONE) with your mind and heart. When you do, we promise that a new level of awareness will take place and you will no longer "play house", you will become a HOUSEHOLD of God.
Looove this.
